Women’s soccer upended 3-0 by Embry-Riddle in SSC opener

SAINT LEO, Fla. – A pair of second-half Embry-Riddle goals allowed the Eagles to post a 3-0 win over Saint Leo women's soccer, in both teams' Sunshine State Conference opener on Saturday night at University Soccer Field.

How It Happened

6'| A loose ball deflected off a Saint Leo defender about 10 yards outside the 18 on the near side, and went straight to Ragnheidur Gardarsdottir who finished for the goal. | ERAU 1-0 |
 
52'| Maria Schmiedhofer weaved her way through traffic at the top of the 18, and got the shot away for a goal. | ERAU 2-0 |

Points to Note
  • Saint Leo falls to 1-2-0 as the Lions move into the thick of Sunshine State Conference play with upcoming games against Palm Beach Atlantic and Florida Southern.
  • The loss was Saint Leo's first to Embry-Riddle since the Eagles began the transition to NCAA Division II and the Sunshine State Conference.
  • Saint Leo was outshot by Embry-Riddle, 13-6, with the Eagles taking a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal. ERAU had four corner kicks to Saint Leo's none.

  • The win was the first SSC victory for Embry-Riddle women's soccer, and allowed the Eagles to improve to 3-1-0 overall.
  • Keeper Fanny Kristiansson recorded two saves in keeping a clean sheet for Embry-Riddle.
