Women's Basketball Notes
  • Saint Leo's 3rd quarter comeback (44-34) on Saturday, December 9 to upset #8/12 Rollins hands the Lions a three-game win streak entering Tuesday's non-conference game against Johnson & Wales. The victory is believed to be the biggest upset in the program's history following the Jan. 16, 2013; a 66-44 upset at WBCA #15 Tampa. Saturday's win over WBCA #12, D2SIDA #8 Rollins in the Tars lowest scoring game of the season.
  • Last week, Gina Brierley led scoring for the Lions averaging 11.5 points per game, shooting 50%, tallying 12 total assists followed by Ragen Dotson averaging 11.0 points per game, shooting 30.4%. On the season, Brierley is averaging 8.9 points per game shooting 46.3%. Dotson is the Lions season score leader with 11.3 points per game going 33.3%.
  • Alani Gallagher had a big week off the glass averaging 8.0 rebounds per game (7 offensive, 9 defensive), scoring 9.5 points per game shooting 37.5%. Nikira Hooks also had stellar week as the inside presence for the Lions. Hooks averaged 6.5 rebounds (5 offensive, 8 defensive), shooting 63.6% from the field going 7-11.
  • Madelin Lang had a perfect game on the line at Rollins sinking 4-4 of her free throws.
  • The Johnson & Wales Wildcats look to snap a four-game losing skid at the Marion Bowman Activities Center. The Wildcats were handed a bitter 67-66 loss at St. Thomas on Saturday.
  • Four Wildcats scored double figures in the heartbreaker: Tianna Ayulo (16), Diamond Williams (15), Bevin Mays (12) and JoNae Gonzales (12). Ayulo and Williams also led Johnson & Wales rebounding with 7 each.
  • On the season, Ayulo steps on the hardwood averaging 18.8 points per game, shooting 46.3%, grabbing 7.8 rebounds. Williams is shooting 42.4% on the season averaging 17.2 points per game. Mays is shooting 40% is averaging 12.6 points per game, Gonzales averages 10.2 points per game shooting 34.5%.
