Volleyball Notes
  • Saint Leo enters the week contests on a six-match win streak including two last week 3-2 over Nova Southeastern (Nov. 3) and a 3-1 win over Barry (Nov. 4).
  • Ashley Quero led the Lions with 31 kills on a .208 clip with seven digs and two blocks, including one service ace. Anna Garrett paced the Lions with 95 assists for 10.5 per set on a .354 percentage. Garrett added 14 digs on the weekend with three blocks. Jenya Kruglova helped the Lions hold both the Sharks (.166) and the Buccaneers (.140) to under a .200 hitting percentage with 52 digs on the weekend.
  • Quero landed a career-high 21 kills on Friday night with a .244 hitting percentage to start the weekend off strong. Nina Vattovaz took over in the match Saturday as she tallied a double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs. Vattovaz added nine and 11, respectively, on Friday night as well.
  • On the year, Quero leads all hitters with 235 kills as Garrett leads the way in assists with 846. Kruglova holds a 191 dig lead, with 406 on the season, over Reggie Van Devender who is second on the team with 215.
  • Eckerd enters on a two-match win streak after posting a 3-1 win over Barry (Nov. 3) and a 3-0 sweep of Nova Southeastern (Nov. 4) at home. On the year, the Tritons trio of Paula Hoffmann, Kaitlyn Sibson, and Fernanda Reis lead the way in the three major categories of kills, digs, and assists. Hoffmann is the kill leader with 294. Sibson is the digs leader with 439 as Reis is the leader in assists with 865.
  • Lynn enters after splitting the weekend with a 3-1 setback to Embry-Riddle on Nov. 3 before bouncing back to take down the Panthers of Florida Tech in five, 3-2, on Nov. 4. On the year, Sonja Udovcic leads the team in kills (289) and digs (341), where Angala Jensen is first on the team in assists with 411. Nicol Colonna is a close second in assists with 336 as a RS.

Men's Basketball Notes
  • Men's Basketball tipped-off the 2017-18 season a week ahead of the rest of Division II at the Disney DII Tip-Off Classic in Orange, California where the Lions posted a 1-2 record in three straight games. The Lions fell in the season opener 62-53 to Point Loma Nazarene before bouncing back to take down Humboldt State, 66-65 on Nov. 4. Saint Leo closed out the weekend trip to the West Coast with a 83-69 loss to Concordia-Irvine. 
  • On the weekend, Isaiah Hill and Tyreece Brice led the Lions in scoring both recording 39 points in three games, for a 13.0 points per game average. 
  • Brice led the Lions in rebounds, tying with Junior Searcy, with 14 on the weekend ahead of Hill's 12 boards. Searcy and Brice were on fire from the free throw line where Searcy missed just two, 6-8, and Brice just five, 14-19, to finish with free-throw percentages of 75.0 and 73.7, respectively. 
  • Hill added 11 assists, seven steals and three blocks to his stat line where Brice chipped in with eight assists and five steals. Pape Ngom and Earl Russell joined Hill for the team lead in blocks with three.
  • Tyreece Brice was named the first SSC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
  • Alabama-Huntsville and North Alabama, two NCAA postseason regulars, will look to start their season at the GSC/SSC Challenge this weekend in Tampa.
