SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's lacrosse program promises much excitement for 2018 under the direction of first year head coach
Caitlin Hansen. The Lions released their schedule featuring 17 contests including six competitions within the Sunshine State Conference (SSC).
Saint Leo will open the season hosting three straight matches at University Turf Stadium beginning on Sunday, February 11, at 1:00 p.m. against Molloy.
The end of March marks the start SSC competition. Saint Leo will travel to Embry-Riddle on Wednesday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m. Following the weekday action, the Lions will host Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. To view the complete season schedule visit

Saint Leo returns senior duo
Katherine Larson and
Abbie Ross. During her junior campaign, Larson scored 26 goals, assisted in two, earned 26 ground balls, caused eight turnovers and tallied 21 draw controls. Ross also put up numbers in 2017 with 18 goals, eight assists, 15 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers, and 23 draw controls.
Familiar faces,
Jody Madsen and
Amanda Coppolo each return from their senior undergraduate redshirt season. In addition to the experienced veteran roster, Hansen showcases six newcomers to the Lions' community.
"The team and staff are excited to welcome back Jody (Madsen), Amanda (Coppolo), and Haley (Campbell) for the 2018 season. All three are talented defenders who add experience and leadership to our back line," says Hansen.
"Also enhancing the defensive unit is freshman goalie, Emma Crafton, and sophomore defender, Courtney Ruppert. Rounding out the newcomers are attackers Sam Nolan and Hope Gladden and midfielder, Sarah Pierson, who will shoulder some responsibility on the draw this season.
"This group has been working hard in the fall season to challenge our returning players as we start a new chapter in Saint Leo Women's Lacrosse," concludes Hansen.
