SAINT LEO, Fla. – Second year women's basketball head coach Anthony Crocitto named the Saint Leo Lion's captains for the upcoming season. Gina Brierley and Ragen Dotson will lead the Lions into the 2017-2018 year of competition.
 
"Gina Brierley is a loyal and hardworking young lady," says Crocitto. "She is a glue kid and will be a leader in life. I'm proud she joined me here on this Saint Leo journey and I know she will make a great captain."
 
Last year, Brierley entered a starting position on the Green and Gold roster during her freshman campaign. During her 26 games and 24 starts, she peppered the stat sheet posting 187 points, 95 rebounds, 60 assists and 25 steals.
 
"Ragen Dotson had a great junior year and is someone that will lead by example on and off the court," exclaims Crocitto. "She is a fighter and that veteran athlete who will take a lot of pressure off the rookies. Ragen is also my best program communicator and I can count on her to get things done."
 
Dotson earned a double figure scoring average last season sinking 12.1 points a game. In addition, she led the Lions free throw game shooting .786 from the charity stripe (55-70). On the other side of the ball, she terrorized opponents with 22 blocks and 19 steals.
 
Saint Leo's opening tipoff is schedule for Friday, November 10, at 6:00 p.m. at Lee in Cleveland, Tenn. The Lions season opener features non-conference action against Shorter on Saturday, November 11, at 1:00 p.m.
