SAINT LEO, Fla. -- The Saint Leo women's volleyball team used grit and determination to stave-off a feisty Embry-Riddle volleyball team on Friday evening, topping the Eagles 3-1 in the regional battle.

How It Happened
Set 1 | Efficiency was the name of the game for the Lions in the first set, only committing nine total errors in the entire match, including hitting, service, and other types of errors. Anna Sirushkova had five kills to lead the way for the Lions. The Lions also held the visiting Eagles to a hitting percentage of .111. |SLU 25-20|
Set 2| In the second, Embry-Riddle took the set by two points, equaling the difference in kills for the set, as the Eagles put down 15 while the Lions put down 13 in an otherwise equal match. Saint Leo had three team blocks in the set, but it was not enough to fight the small lead ERAU had. | ERAC 25-23|
Set 3 | Out of the intermission, Saint Leo showed its dominance. The Lions hit a clip of .333, while holding ERAU to just a .067 hitting percentage. Saint Leo saw a well-balanced offensive as five different hitters tallied kills. As a team they put down 11, and only committed two errors. |SLU 25-15|
Set 4| In an extremely offensive fourth set, Saint Leo and Embry-Riddle both improved their hitting percentages. Saint Leo put down 14 kills on a clip of .256, while ERAU hit .263 and 15 kills. The difference in the set was four team blocks from the Lions, three of which were solo blocks. Two of those came from middle blocker Katie Adamson. With nine ties in the set, the Lions closed out the game with one of those blocks. |SLU 25-23|
Beyond the Box score
- Siruckova lead the way for the Lions, putting down 14 kills. She added four blocks and three digs.
- Hope Lemon posted a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs. This was her eighth double-double of the season.
- Ashlee Hodgskin also posted a double-double, dishing out 42 assists and scooping up 19 digs. This was Hodgskin's 11th doube-double.
- Lions move to 7-2 at home.
For the Eagles
- Evelina Abdurakhmanova posted a game-high 22 kills.
- In the 6-2 formation, Tamires Ferreira dished out 28 assists while Amanda Saunders put up 16.
- Sumerr Paxton led the way with 20 digs.
