SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women’s soccer team put together one of their most impressive scoring performances of the 2010 season as the Lions dominated the visiting Northwood University Seahawks 8-0 in action at University Field on Sunday afternoon.

Junior Pia Soesemann scored a career-high three goals as she was one of five Lions to register a goal in the victory.  Soesemann made perfect book ends of the day as she started the scoring in the fifth minute after punching a deflection into the net.  The German finished the day’s offensive output with her third and final goal in the 69th minute.  Holding the team lead in scoring, she now has 12 goals this season.

In between, Chrsisy Darwell registered her fifth and sixth goals of the season while Cassie Barbaresi, Jasmine Johnson and Malloree Enoch all etched their names on the scoresheet in the shot barrage Saint Leo (7-6-1) pushed toward the goal.

In addition to Darwell’s tandem of goals, the Cranston, R.I. native also tallied two assists as the Lions passing connected for nine total assists against Northwood (14-4).

As a team, the Lions would launch 27 shots and put 16 towards goal.  The Lions have outscored their last two opponents 13-0.

Making her first start in two games, freshman Audrey Bernier-Larose pushed the Lions’ shutout streak to 225 minutes as she made four saves.  The clean sheet gives Saint Leo five perfect games in 2010.

The Lions, who have a crucial week of conference games ahead, will travel to Lakeland and face Florida Southern on Wednesday night.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
