Head Coach Chad Berryhill welcomed Matthew Alexander to the coaching staff in August of 2021. Alexander will join the Saint Leo Lions as the Graduate Assistant Coach as he will be helping lead the Green and Gold while obtaining an MBA in Sports Business.
 
“Joining a new team is always an exciting time,” expressed Alexander. “Building relationships and working together to achieve shared goals with others, who believe in something as much as you, is an awesome experience to be a part of.” I’ll be loving every step of the process with this team, and I can’t wait to get started. Go, Lions!”
 
Alexander continued, adding why he was specifically excited to be at Saint Leo stating, “Coach Berryhill is someone I can learn a lot from. What he has achieved so far at Saint Leo is undeniably admirable. I am really looking forward to working with him, as well as the rest of the team, to compete for a national championship.
 
“The campus is gorgeous and there’s a genuine homelike feeling to the environment. I am very excited to start the next chapter of my life here at Saint Leo.”
 
Personal History
Originally from Bath, England, Alexander completed his undergraduate degree in Marketing Communications from Webber International University while enjoying a successful tennis career. He will bring along with him a Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship from 2017 during his stint at Davis & Elkins College, and was the Sun Conference Semi-Finalists and Youth Tennis Foundation of Florida (YTF) Singles Finalist both in 2019.
 
Coaching History
Alexander began his tennis coaching career in the Fall of 2020 as a volunteer assistant coach at Stetson University. In addition, he became a tennis professional at the John Hudson Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida. He heads to Saint Leo with five years with a coaching title and is an LTA Accredited Level 2 Coach.
