Chad Berryhill

Chad Berryhill was hired in October 2016 as Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s Tennis program at Saint Leo University.  Since taking the helm at Saint Leo, Berryhill has led the Lions to a combined eleven NCAA postseason appearances, five CoSIDA honors, 16 ITA Singles All-Americans, 10 ITA Doubles All-Americans, a Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Men’s Tennis Regular Season Championship title in 2018 and 2023, 60 All-SSC selections, and numerous ITA Team Community Service Awards. He has personally been honored as the ITA South Region Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year (2018, 2022, 2023), ITA South Region Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year (2022 & 2023), SSC Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year (2018 & 2023), SSC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year (2018), ITA National Coach of the Year (2022 & 2023), as well as the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Coach of the Year for the Florida Division (2019).  In total he has coached 37 ITA All-Americans and as of the Spring of 2023 enjoyed over 400 dual match victories!  Berryhill also coached the team to a Men’s ITA National Indoor National Championship in 2023 and also the same year the Women’s Team was the ITA National Indoors Runners-Up.  In addition he led Hillsborough Community College Women’s Team to a team National Championship in 2008 and National Runner-Up finishes in 2006, 2007, and 2009.

Berryhill took the reins of Saint Leo men's and women's tennis after spending the four seasons as head coach at his alma mater, Ferris State University, in Big Rapids, Mich. Berryhill guided Ferris State to the "final four" of the 2016 NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championship. Prior to accepting the position at Ferris State, Berryhill was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Central Florida from 2010 to 2012, where he assembled a Fall 2012 recruiting class for the Knights that was ranked No. 17 in Division I by TennisRecruiting.net. Berryhill began his coaching career as the head women's tennis coach at Hillsborough Community College in 2005, and continued in that role prior to making the move to UCF in 2010. His five-year stint at HCC was highlighted by leading the Lady Hawks to the 2008 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship, and finishing as the National Runners-Up in 2006, 2007, and 2009. The team also earned a # 1 ranking in the nation four out of five of his seasons.  Berryhill was a four-time Florida Community College Athletic Association Coach of the Year from 2006 to 2009, and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Region IV Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2009. During his time at HCC, Berryhill coached two ITA National Players of the Year, two ITA All-Stars in singles (finishing # 1 in the nation), two ITA National Rookies of the Year, an ITA National Rookie of the Year, and ten of his players earned ITA First Team All-America honors.  He also had two singles players and three doubles pairs win the ITA Small College National Championship with all five getting to the final of the ITA Small College “Super Bowl.” Berryhill's also coached at the Tennissmith School in Tampa from 2005 to 2010, concurrent with his coaching stint at Hillsborough Community College. He coached numerous future Division I players at Tennissmith, including five players currently among the top 400 in the ATP singles rankings.  He also has been very active running summer tennis camps as he was the former Director of the Tennis Academy at Harvard and the Director of the Ferris State Sumer Camps.  He still serves as the co-Director of the Nike Summer Tennis Camps at Rollins College as well as works for the Ed Krass College Tennis Exposure Camps.

Personal History Berryhill, a native of Lansing, Michigan, is a 2005 graduate of Ferris State University with a degree in Professional Tennis Management. He went on to receive his Master of Science with a concentration in physical education from the University of South Florida in 2009. He and his wife, Mollye, and daughter, Peyton, reside in San Antonio, FL along with their dog, Marley.
