SAINT LEO, Fla. – A total of 72 Saint Leo University student-athletes received their Bachelor degrees at the University's Commencement exercises held on Friday, April 28, and Saturday, April 29, at the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
Seventeen of those student-athletes graduated with honors, including two student-athletes who graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.95-or-higher grade points average (GPA).
Senior women's golf student-athlete Marie Coors, an economics major, was the recipient of the University's Clara McDonald Olson Scholastic Excellence Award, which is presented to the member of the graduating class with the highest GPA earned throughout four years at Saint Leo University.
"Many of these student-athletes have earned All-America and All-Sunshine State Conference honors, and others were conference champions and even national champions. But these young men and women have now earned the ultimate goal from their Saint Leo experience – a Bachelor's degree," said Francis X. Reidy, Saint Leo's director of athletics. "I congratulate them along with their families on receiving their Saint Leo University degrees, and I hope these new alumni will continue to be active in supporting the teams and programs they helped build."
Many of these student-athletes have not completed their Saint Leo experience quite yet; the Lions' men's golf, women's golf, and softball teams remain active in NCAA post-season competition, while the baseball team completes its regular season on May 13.
Below is a list of the student-athletes who received their degrees at one of the undergraduate Commencement ceremonies this past weekend:
