Michael Southward joined the Saint Leo men's and women's swimming coaching staff in the Fall of 2021 after a four-year career as a Saint Leo men's swimming student-athlete.
Southward was a member of the Saint Leo men’s swimming team from 2016-2020. He served as a team captain both his junior and senior seasons. He is a member of the school record holding 400 free relay team which set a mark of 2:57.06 at the 2018 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Greensboro, N.C. Southward also earned All-American honors at the 2018 Championship as he was part of the 11th place finishing 200 free relay. He appeared on the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll all four years at Saint Leo and also served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Vice President.
Southward graduated from Saint Leo University in the spring of 2020 with a degree in marketing.
