Joely Smith (Hawaii Pacific 2019) joined the Saint Leo coaching staff in 2019-20.
While on the sideline, Coach Smith helped lead the Green and GoldĀ against the 10th ranked Limestone Saints, no. 8 Converse Valkyries, and No. 1 Baylor Bears in a tri-match with the Presbyterian Blue Hose. The Green and Gold finished with an 0-4 record but saw highlights such as the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) Freshman of the Week after the opening meet in Kaleigh Pensavalle, a program high of 244.675 in the opening meet of the inaugural season as well as scoring a 9.8 out of 9.9 in heat 3 of the pyramid against the Bears and Blue Hose.
A native of Wilmington, N.C., Smith was a four-year standout on the HPU Sharks where she was part of the 2017 National Quarterfinals team. In highschool while competing at Ashley High School, she was a 2014 Majors Grand Champion as well as World's Bronze Medalist.Ā
Smith graduated from Hawaii Pacific University in 2019 with a degree in Communication, and is set to graduate in December 2021 with a master's degree in Social Media Marketing from Saint Leo University.Ā
