Women's Tennis Crushes D'Youville 6-0 on Sunday

SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Saint Leo University women's tennis team returned to the win column on Sunday with a 6-0 win over D'Youville. Candice Bernier clinched both the doubles point and the match clinching point for the home team. The Lions improve to 4-3 while the Saints fall to 5-3 overall.
The Lions conceded just three games to the Saints over the course doubles play. Sophia Johnson and Nicol Novak opened the match with a 6-0 win at number three doubles. The eighth-ranked doubles team of Candice Bernier and Catherine Rabatin won 6-2 at number one doubles to earn the early 1-0 lead.
Deren Ozel opened singles play with 6-1 and 6-2 set wins to put the team up 2-0. After Camila Keller picked up a win at number three singles, 6-1 & 6-0, Candice Bernier won thee match for the Lions with a 6-0 first set and a 6-4 win in the second set. The match was ended with Novak tied 6-6 in the second set due to lightning in the area.
