SAINT LEO, Fla. – The 11th-ranked Saint Leo University acrobatics and tumbling team extended its win streak to three after a tight contest with #14 Lander at home on Friday night. The events were kept close as no event was decided by more than 3.5 points. Saint Leo snuck out the victory over the Bearcats from Lander with a 252.435 to 247.440 final. The Lions improve to 3-1 overall record in 2026 while the Bearcats fall to 3-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Leo opened the meet with a strong showing in Compulsory, posting a 36.45 to edge Lander's 35.45 and take the early advantage. The Lions recorded a 9.70 in the Pyramid heat and a 9.60 in the Toss heat, helping establish momentum through the opening four heats
In the Acro event, Saint Leo continued to build its lead with a 28.60 total compared to Lander's 26.90. The Lions delivered their top score of the event in the Seven Element heat with a 9.75, while also adding a 9.25 in the Six Element heat to maintain control of the meet heading into the Pyramid event.
Pyramid remained one of the cleanest events of the afternoon for the Green and Gold. Saint Leo totaled 29.30, highlighted by a 9.90 in the Open heat and a 9.75 in the Inversion heat. The consistent execution across all three heats kept the Lions ahead entering the final two events.
Toss proved to be a tightly contested event, with Saint Leo finishing with a 26.95. The Lions' best mark came in the Open heat with a 9.40, matching Lander's score in that heat and keeping the overall meet margin steady.
Saint Leo continued to perform well in Tumbling, recording a 53.525 compared to Lander's 52.400. The Lions posted strong marks in the Aerial Pass (9.400), Six Element Pass (9.250), and Open Pass (9.425) to extend their lead heading into the final event.
In the Team Event, Saint Leo secured the victory with a score of 77.61, closing out a 252.435 to 247.440 win over Lander.

Saint Leo's home schedule features just one more meet. The Lions will host West Liberty for senior day on Friday, March 13. Friday's event is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
