SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University beach volleyball team hosted the Barry University Buccaneers and the Florida Southern College Moccasins for its home opener on Friday. The Lions defeated Barry 5-0 in the opening match of the day. As weather rolled through the Saint Leo area, the Lions and the Mocs saw their afternoon match postponed with the Lions leading 2-0. Saint Leo improves to 6-1 overall.

Facing the Buccaneers for the second time in 2026, the Lions made easy work of their opponents from south Florida. Madison Moore and Anna Intagliata held their opponents to single digits in both sets, 21-9 and 21-8. Erin Johnson and Paula Perez Rosales defeated their opponent by identical 21-17 scores. Saint Leo's one pair of Emma Laade and Thalie Brossard clinched the victory for the home team with a 21-13 and 21-6 wins in straight sets. Tajma Muharemovic and Abby VanBuskirk played as the number three pair and won 21-14 and 21-11. The five pair of Paige Reeves and Abrie Green's match was the only court to see a third set. Reeves and Green lost 21-19 in the first set but turned it around to take the final two sets, 21-18 and 15-11 to seal the five court sweep of the Buccaneers.
