SAINT LEO, Fla. - The 21st-ranked Saint Leo men's golf team finished runner-up in the 2026 Saint Leo Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club.
The Lions registered scores of 283, 276, and 272 for an overall score of 841 (-23) for the second-place nod. The Saint Leo lineup was led by sophomore
Micke Laurelli, who tied for sixth with a 208 (-8). The Sweden native posted a 71 in the opening round, and then a 70 in the second followed by capping off the impressive tournament with a 67 in the final round.
Junior
Nicklas Illi finished in a share of 18th as he fired a 76, and then a 65, followed by a 71 for a 212 (-4). Senior
Enzo Barbaglia tied for 21st as he shot either even or under for the three rounds. The South Africa native carded a 71 in the first, 72 in the second, and a 70 in the third.
Freshman
Benjamin Morland placed tied for 25th with a 214 (-2). Morland collected a 71 in the first round before carding a 69 and then a 74. Rounding out the lineup was junior
Maximilian Morgenstern with a 223 (+7) for a tie of 70th.
The Green & Gold had several golfers compete as individuals that included senior
Ryan Letterly, who posted a 221 (+5), sophomore
Marshall Bath with a 222 (+6), senior
Mathieu Lafontaine registered a 223 (+7), and freshman
Paul Steele with a 233 (+17).
The Lions will be back on the links Monday, March 9 as they compete in the Southeastern Intercollegiate Tournament, hosted by Valdosta State at Kinderlou Forest with a start time of 8:30 a.m.
