Sep 03, 2025

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University Athletics is set to open the 2025 fall sports campaign this week, with men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball all beginning their new seasons. The Lions will be represented both at home and on the road, highlighted by men's soccer hosting a pair of evening contests at University Turf Stadium.

Men's Soccer

The Lions open their home slate under the lights at University Turf Stadium against a pair of top-25 opponents. Saint Leo begins the season against #21 AUM at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, before closing out the opening weekend on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. against perennial regional contender  #13 West Florida. Both matches will give fans an early glimpse of the 2025 squad and mark the first official Saint Leo competitions of the new academic year.

Women's Soccer

Saint Leo women's soccer begins its season with a road swing against non-conference opponents. The Lions travel to USC Aiken on Thursday, Sept. 4, before heading to Milledgeville, Ga., for a neutral-site contest against Delta State on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. Both games will provide an important early-season test away from home as the team looks to make a return trip to the postseason.

Volleyball

A new era of Saint Leo volleyball begins this weekend as Abby Keim makes her Saint Leo head coaching debut. The Green & Gold will travel to Lakeland, Fla., for the Jet's Pizza FSC Volleyball Classic. They open on Friday, Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. against Augusta, before returning to Lakeland on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. meeting with Anderson (S.C.).

Cross Country

Saint Leo cross country opens its season locally at the Swan City Invitational at Lakeland's Holloway Park. The men's race will begin at 7:25 a.m., followed by the women's race at 7:50 a.m. The event provides the Lions with an early opportunity to test themselves on a familiar course as a preview to this year's Sunshine State Conference and NCAA South Regional championships later this fall.
