DADE CITY, Fla. – Saint Leo University women's soccer student-athletes spent their day making a difference in the community, as members of the varsity and reserve soccer programs volunteered their time at Centennial Elementary School.
More than 70 student-athletes from both the varsity and reserve soccer teams joined together to help beautify the school campus and create a more welcoming environment for local students. The service project is part of Saint Leo Athletics' ongoing commitment to community engagement and the University's core values of community, excellence, and responsible stewardship.
From painting and organizing to outdoor cleanup and classroom assistance, the Lions brought their energy and teamwork off the field to support the local school. Their efforts reflected not only their dedication to athletic success, but also their shared responsibility to give back and serve others.
"As coaches, it's important to us that our student-athletes understand the value of serving their community," said
Ged O'Connor, Saint Leo head women's soccer coach. "Opportunities like today allow our teams to connect with others, give back, and learn lessons that extend far beyond the playing field."
The day at Centennial Elementary continues a long-standing tradition of Saint Leo Athletics' involvement in community service, reinforcing the connection between the University and the surrounding area while offering student-athletes an opportunity to live out the values that guide the Green & Gold.
