Men’s Cross Country Takes 2nd, Women 5th at HOKA Nights of Thunder XC Fest

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Saint Leo University Cross country traveled to the storied Apalachee Regional Park for the HOKA Nights of thunder cross country festival where the men took second place and the women placed 5th as a team.

The men's race began at 8 P.M., shortly after the sun went down and the harriers went into the illuminated course being led by freshman Paul Rivera; Who in his debut in the 8 kilometer race ran 26:54.22 placing 14th overall.

Following Rivera was freshman Corei Marshall who finished in 27:29.26.

Angelo Acosta ran a time of 29:11.47, followed by freshman Jordan Seymore in 29:42.24. Freshman Jevin Luna closed out the scoring for the lions crossing the line in 30:24.08.

The lions took second place with a total of 84 points, only being defeated by sunshine state conference foe Florida Southern.

The women's 5 kilometer race began at 8:45 P.M. and saw senior Rachel Jarrett led the way, opening her season in 20:41.61 placing 31st overall.

Close behind Jarret was freshman Delaney Glynn, running a time of 20:51.61. Junior Dakotah Medows took bronze for the lions crossing the line in 22:15.62. Following in suit was freshman Alexis Morgan in 22:24.41. Closing out the scoring for the lions was freshman Jasmine Fajardo, who rounded out the day in 23:21.48.

The women's team took 5th place totaling 176 points.

The lions are back in action on Fri. Oct. 3 at the Alligator Lake Open.
