Baker Named Specialist of the Week by the NCATA

Baker is the first Lion to earn weekly honors by the NCATA

Apr 02, 2025

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University acrobatics & tumbling graduate student Abbie Baker was named the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) Specialist of the Week following the Lions trip to Waco, Texas to take on top-ranked Baylor. Baker has the distinction of being the first Lion to ever earn a weekly award from the NCATA.

Baker, a senior top from Berlin, MD, for an outstanding performance in the pyramid event. Baker played a crucial role in securing impressive scores across all three heats, demonstrating skill, precision, and consistency at the highest level.

The team's scores for the pyramid event were:
Inversion Pyramid: 9.8/10
Duo Pyramid: 9.75/10
Open Pyramid: 10/10

From the controlled strength of the inversion pyramid to the synchronization required in the duo pyramid, Baker's contributions were undeniable. But it was in the open pyramid where she and her teammates truly soared, earning a perfect 10.0—the highest possible score.
