HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – #17 Saint Leo University women's golf opened play at the 2025 Sunshine State Conference Championships on Sunday afternoon to defend its 2024 SSC title. The Lions sit in fifth place out of 10 teams following the opening round of play. The three-round three-day tournament is being held at Mission Inn Resort + Golf Club in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. Madeleine Pytura shot a +1 in the 71-par round to lead the Lions lineup in a tie for third place on the 50-player leaderboard. Nova Southeastern holds a five stoke lead over second place Lynn and Tampa.

Madeleine Pytura leads the Lions in a tie for third place as she carded a +1 in the opening round. Olivia Deakins joins Pytura in the top 10 as she sits in a tie for eighth place following a +2 in the first round. Tied for 19th place is Pia Perthen, following a +4. One stroke separates Ana Valentina-Guarderas (+8) and Iza Stahlevi (+9) to round out the Lions lineup.
