WACO, Texas – In a top 10 battle featuring 10th-ranked Saint Leo and top-ranked Baylor, the Bears held off the Lions for a 277.450 – 249.940 victory on Saturday night.

In the compulsory event, Baylor eked out a 38.450 – 35.000 win. The Bears totaled scores of 9.150 or better in addition to a perfect 10 in the toss category. In the pyramid and toss heats, the Lions collected a score of 9.650.

After the acro event, Baylor extended its lead to 67.950 – 62.650. The Bears won all three heats with scores of 9.95, 9.7, and 9.85 while the Lions posted scores of 9.25, 8.8, and 9.6.

In the pyramid event, Saint Leo battled as it registered impressive scores of 9.8, 9.75, and a perfect 10 in the open heat. The Bears notched a 9.9 in the inversion heat followed by a 9.8 in the synchronized heat, and a perfect 10 in the open. Heading into intermission, Baylor led by a 97.650 – 92.200 margin.

During the toss event, the Lions recorded an 8.9 in the 450 salto, a 9.0 in synchronized, and a 9.4 in the open heat while the Bears earned a 9.4, 9.5, and a 9.4 as they gained a 125.995 – 119.500 advantage.

In the tumbling event, the Lions posted a 52.050 while Baylor registered a score of 57.400 to hold a 183.350 – 171.550 lead going into the team event.

With a starting value of 97.04, the Lions posted a score of 78.390 while the Bears tallied 94.100 with a starting value of 109.40 as Baylor sealed the victory.
