SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University beach volleyball split its tri-meet with Tampa and Barry on Friday at the Saint Leo Beach Volleyball Courts. All three matches ended 5-0 on the day as the Lions fell 5-0 to the Spartans before closing out the day with a 5-0 win against the Buccaneers. Saint Leo improves to 9-7 on the season.

Saint Leo put up a fight against an always dominant Tampa team. The Lions managed a single set from the Spartans on Friday. The number four pair of Emma Laade and Reagan Hopp battled hard in the opening set ultimately falling 28-26 before claiming the second set 21-12. The final set also needed extra points to decide a winner as the Spartans pair claimed the 21-19 win in the third set to give them a 3-0 advantage. Saint Leo's three pair of Kayla David and Erin Johnson needed extra points in the first set before falling 23-21 and then fell 21-16 in the second set.

The final match of the day was all Saint Leo as all six courts went in favor of the home team. In an exhibition matchup, Josie Villarreal and Brenna Reinhard held their opponents to a combines 11 points in the two sets. Saint Leo's number four pair of Laade and Hopp give the Lions a 1-0 lead with win of 21-12 and 21-9. Tajma Muharemovic and Oliwia Durka put the Lions up 2-0 with a straight set victory of 21-15 and 21-12. Madison Moore and Paula Perez Rosales earned wins of 21-13 and 21-9 to clinch the victory for the Green & Gold. Saint Leo closed out the match with wins by the number three and number one pairs. David and Johnson won the three pairs with a 21-17 victory in the first set and earned the 4-0 advantage with a 21-10 win in the second set. The number one pair of Jeanette Henderson and Emma Miller took the first set 21-16 before a back-and-forth second set was clinched 21-19 by the Lions.
