SAINT LEO, Fla. – The 13th-ranked Saint Leo acrobatics and tumbling team defeated Presbyterian 243.635 – 228.505 at home on Sunday afternoon in the Marion Bowman Center.

The Lions opened the meet winning every heat in the compulsory except the tumbling category. The Green and Gold registered a 9.35 in the acro heat followed by a 9.75 in the pyramid and an 8.9 in the toss heat. The Blue Hose won the tumbling heat with a 7.3 while Saint Leo notched a 7.15. After the first event, the Lions led by a 35.150 – 33.6 margin.

Saint Leo was clicking on all cylinders during the acro event as it scored a 9.25 or better in every heat to sweep the acro category. The Lions registered a 9.65 in the first heat followed by a 9.25 and a 9.75 while Presbyterian posted scores of 8.55, 8.5, and a 9.0. Heading into the pyramid event, the Lions led 63.8-59.65.
The Green and Gold once again swept the Blue Hose. The Lions tallied a 9.75 in the opening heat before recording an impressive 9.9 in the second heat as they concluded the event with 9.85 in the third heat. At intermission, Saint Leo held a 93.3-88.25 advantage.

In the toss event, the Blue Hose only won the third heat by an 8.75-8.4 margin. The Lions claimed the first two heats of the event with scores of 9.0 and an 8.45. The Green and Gold extended its lead to 119.150-113.450 going into the tumbling event.

In the six heats of the tumbling event, the Lions won five heats to lead 166.825 – 162.525 heading into the final event, the team category.
Saint Leo won the team event by a 10.83 margin. (76.810-65.980) to seal the home meet victory 243.635-228.505.

The Lions return to action on Sunday, March 9 as it hosts #2 Quinnipac on Senior Day, starting at 2 p.m.
