#13 Acrobatics & Tumbling Earns First Road Win of 2025

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The 13th-ranked Saint Leo University acrobatics and tumbling team opened the road portion of its season on Wednesday night. The Lions posted its best scores in the pyramid heat three (9.950) and the final tumbling heat (9.000). Saint Leo improved to 4-1 on the season with a 250.985-246.040 win over Converse who falls to 3-4 on the season.

The Lions opened the meet with scores of more than 9.2 in the first three categories in the compulsory event. Saint Leo posted its best score in the Compulsory category with a 9.550 in the pyramid heat. The acro heat earned a 9.250 and the in the toss category the Lions earned a 9.300. Saint Leo held a slim advantage after the first category, leading the Valkries 35.850 to 34.500.

It was a just a 0.1 advantage for the Lions in the acro portion of the meet as the visiting team had a 9.600 in the third heat, the highest score of the meet to that point. Saint Leo's heat one earned a 9.15 as the Lions won the acro portion 23.100 to 23.000. The Green & Gold led the meet 58.950 to 57.500.  

The pyramid event was the best overall event for the Lions posting a pair of 9.800 by heats one and two. The Lions closed out the event with their highest score of the day with a 9.950 in the final heat. Saint Leo won the event 29.550 to 27.600 to lead the meet 88.500 to 85.100.

Keeping up with the theme of the meet, Saint Leo won the toss event by a slim .350. The Lions posted an 8.950 in the first heat followed by an 8.650 in the second heat and the third heat matched the first heat with an 8.950. Saint Leo's lead grew as it led 115.050 to 111.300 heading into the tumbling event.

The tumbling event saw scores range from 9.900 to 7.500. The final heat of the event earned a 9.900 score, the tenth score of 9.000 or greater and the fifth score of 9.500 or better. Only two of the tumbling heats went in favor of the home team. Saint Leo won the event 51.075 to 49.400 to give the Lions a 166.125 to 160.700 lead heading into the team event.  

Despite the Valkries taking the team event by an 85.340 to 84.860 score the Lions still held on to win the claim the meet victory, 250.985 to 246.040.
