Women's Soccer Chops Up Senior Day Draw with Tampa

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University women's soccer team saw its season come to an end with a scoreless draw ove the Tampa Spartans on the first night of November. Saturday's game was senior day for the Lions as they honored their five seniors of the class of 2025. Sophomore goalkeeper Emma Guidotti put on a clinic in goal for the Lions as she made four saves for her fourth scoreless appearance of the season. Saint Leo end its season 3-9-3 overall and 1-6-3 in SSC play.

Prior to Saturday's game with the Spartans, the Lions honored Kristina Arwady, Payton Gibney, Katja May, Ainsley Meyer, and Megan Sodemann as the senior class of 2025.

The Lions recorded eight total shots, including four on goal, while goalkeeper Emma Guidotti earned her fourth shutout of the season with four saves in 88 minutes of play. Senior goalkeeper Megan Sodemann entered for the final two minutes to share the clean sheet in her Senior Day appearance. Payton Gibney led the attack with three shots, one on target, while Chloe Froese, Klara Fagerstroem, and Kristina Arwady each added a shot on goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED: SAINT LEO 0, TAMPA 0

Saint Leo set the tone early, creating several chances in the opening 10 minutes through Payton Gibney and Katja May. Guidotti made a key save in the 20th minute to keep the match scoreless before Arwady forced a diving stop from Tampa goalkeeper Lia Doohan minutes later. The Lions controlled much of the first half, outshooting the Spartans 7-2, but the match remained deadlocked at halftime.

In the second half, Tampa generated more pressure, but Guidotti came up with a pair of clutch saves, including stops on Ally Wold and Brooke Kittner to preserve the shutout. Fagerstroem nearly put Saint Leo in front with a shot to the lower corner in the 68th minute, but Doohan made the save. Sodemann entered late to close out the match, helping the Lions secure their fifth result of the season and third clean sheet in SSC play.
