SAINT LEO, Fla. - The 19th-ranked Saint Leo women's golf team turned in a strong showing on its home course Monday, finishing the opening day of the Saint Leo Invitational tied for fourth place with a team score of 591 (+15) at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club's South Course.
The Lions were led by sophomore Iza Stahlevi, who posted rounds of 71 (-1) and 72 (E) to end the day at 1-under 143, tied for fourth overall in the 67-player field. Senior Ana Valentina-Guarderas continued her solid performance with rounds of 74 (+2) and 71 (-1) for a two-round total of 145 (+1), placing her in a tie for seventh.
Freshman Maria Jaime opened with an even-par 72 before closing the day with an 80 (+8) to sit tied for 34th at 152 (+8). Freshman McKenzee Sullivan followed closely behind, carding rounds of 77 (+5) and 76 (+4) for 153 (+9), tied for 37th. Redshirt Senior Maya Cote rounded out the team's scoring with a 161 (+17) in 58th place.
Competing as individuals, junior Carmen Phousirith and sophomore Sophia Raab both sit tied for 40th at 156 (+12), while freshman Catherine Mulvaney posted 172 (+28).
