Box Score FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Saint Leo University women's soccer team completed a perfect two-game out-of-state road trip with a 4-0 blanking at Emmanuel on Wednesday afternoon. The Lions went 2-0 against the Lions on the week following up a 2-0 victory at the Mars Hill Lions on Monday with a 4-0 win at the Emmanuel Lions earlier today. All four of Saint Leo's goal scorers recorded their first goals of the season including first collegiate goals by freshman
Morgan Gamin and graduate student transfer
Julia Gonsman. The Green and Gold extended its winning streak to three and improved to 3-1-1 on the season.
SAINT LEO 4, EMMANUEL 0
- Once again, Ella Owen led the Lions in shots as she accounted for 10 of Saint Leo's 24 including a game-high four on goal.
- Carmen Reinerink was a perfect one-for-one on shots as she opened the scoring in the 26th minute. Reinerink corralled a lose ball for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
- Olivia Schuck scored her first goal of the season in the 36th minute as she thwarted the home team's efforts to clear the ball and get back on the attack. As the Emmanuel keeper was trying to find a place to clear the ball, Schuck raced in and slotted the ball on goal with just enough momentum to push it over the line for a 2-0 Saint Leo advantage.
- Gamin rounded out the first half scoring with a goal in the 41st minute to put the Lions in green up by a field goal. From outside the top of the box, Gamin intercepted a pass by the home team and fired off a shot to the top of the goal just out of the reach of the extended goalie to give Saint Leo a 3-0 lead.
- In the early stages of the second half, the visiting Lions were awarded a corner kick and took full advantage. After five corner kicks in the game, the Lions finally connected with the back of the net. In the 58th minute, Gonsman received the corner kick from Rhyanne Pascoe and found an open area to score her first collegiate goal.
- Saint Leo saw a shutout appearance by both goalies with Hannah Goetzer in the first half and Amit Beilin making a pair of saves in the second half.
