DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The members of the LPGA Professionals have selected Saint Leo University women's golf head coach
Lyndsey Bevill as the Southeast Coach of the Year recipient for its annual section Teacher, Professional, Coach and Junior Golf Leadership awards. Winners in each of the six sections of the LPGA Professionals — Central, Midwest, Northeast, Southeast, Western, and International — are selected by the Section Officers and Section Nominating Committee Chair annually in each of the four categories.
Bevill's Lions earned seven top five finishes including a pair of first place finishes. The Lions took home the team title twice in 2023-24 earning the program's first Sunshine State Conference team trophy and placed first at the SMSU Classic. Bevill was honored by her SSC coaching peers as the conference Coach of the Year.
Maya Cote became the first Lions to win the SSC individual title during Bevill's tenure and was joined on the All-Tournament team by
Pia Perthen's fifth place finish.
Olivia Deakins opened the fall semester with a first-place finish at the DBU Classic and
Elena Verticchio shot a -1 to lead the 71-player field at the SMSU Classic. Verticchio and Cote earned All-SSC Honors and Verticchio was name an All-American by the WGCA. Five Lions were tabbed All-American scholars by the WGCA.
The LPGA Professionals Coach of the Year award was established in 1980 and is awarded annually to an LPGA Professionals member in good standing with the LPGA and are selected based on teaching and coaching excellence, leadership, community service, character, and LPGA involvement.
