SAINT LEO, Fla. – The eighth–ranked Saint Leo University women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 victory over Edward Waters (Fla.) at home on Saturday afternoon. The Lions won all three doubles matches and all six singles matches. With the win Saint Leo improved to 13-6.
The Lions got off to a clean start with back-to-back 6-0 wins at number two and three doubles to clinch the doubles point.
Madelyn Martin and
Catherine Rabatin opened the match with a 6-0 win and
Cheyenne Houkes and
Paris Marozzelli followed with an identical 6-0 win to clinch the doubles point. A 6-2 win at number one doubles by
Claudia Borbon Roca and
Kamilya Shailina completed the doubles sweep for the home team.
After the Lions dropped all six singles matches a day ago, they made sure to return the favor to their next opponent as Saint Leo dominated the singles play. Marozzelli and
Alexandra Warchausky posted back-to-back wins at singles number six and five to put the Lions up 3-0. At number four singles, Houkes won 6-0 and 6-2 to clinch the match for Saint Leo. The Lions added on wins at number three, two, and one singles to secure the 7-0 blanking of Edward Waters.
