SAINT LEO, Fla. – After scoring a season-high and the third most points in program history, the Saint Leo Acrobatics and Tumbling team earned a 256.260 to 247.855 victory against Presbyterian on Senior Night on Thursday.
In the pyramid event, Saint Leo maintained its lead as it totaled 28.550 while the Blue Hose registered a 27.000 in the category as the Lions led 91.150 to 86.600 in the running total. The Green and Gold highlighted the three-heat event with a perfect 10.00 in the open heat, which is the first perfect score in Saint Leo history. The perfect score was constructed by graduate student Spencer Bronner, senior Hristina Davis, senior Ashley Donahue, sophomore Alexis Cavallo, junior Mackenna Kunitzer, and junior Hanna Hanulik.
To kickstart the meet in compulsory event, the Lions swept all four heats. The Green and Gold collected a score of 9.1 in the acro heat followed by a 9.6 in the pyramid heat, a 9.7 in the toss category, and capped off by a 7.05 in the tumbling heat. Saint Leo tallied a 35.450 for the event while the Blue Hose earned a total score of 34.550 in the event.
In the acro event, the Lions notched a 9.2 in the five-element heat followed by an 8.5 in the six-element heat and a 9.45 in the seven-element heat to total a score of 27.15 in the event while Presbyterian posted a score of 25.05. Heading into the pyramid event, the Green and Gold held a 62.600 to 59.600 lead.
In the toss event, Saint Leo posted scores of 8.8, 8.7, and 9.250 to total 26.750 for the event. Presbyterian recorded an 8.550, followed by an 8.050 and an 8.650 for a total of 25.250. Going into the tumbling event, the Lions led by a 117.900 to 111.850 margin.
During the tumbling event, the Lions scored an 8.35 in the duo pass followed by an 8.050 in the trio pass. In the quad pass, Saint Leo earned a 7.750 before posting a 9.00 in the aerial pass. The Green and Gold registered an 8.950 in the six-element pass and capped off the event with an 8.800 in the open pass as the Lions totaled a score of 50.900 while the Blue Hose notched a score of 49.025. Saint Leo held a 168.800 to 160.875 advantage going into the team event.
In the team event, Presbyterian recorded a score of 86.980 and Saint Leo collected a score of 87.460 as the Lions earned the victory with a score of 256.260 to 247.855.
