#12 Men's Golf Tied for Third Place after Day 1 of the Battle of the Shores

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – #12 Saint Leo University men's golf is in a tie for third place after the first two rounds of the Battle at the Shores. The two-day tournament is being held at the Normandy Shores Golf Club in Miami Beach hosted by Barry University. Individually, Alex Heck leads the Lions lineup and is in second place just one stroke off the lead.

Saint Leo is tied with Palm Beach Atlantic in third place. The top seven teams are all from the Sunshine State Conference with the host Barry leading the way by one stroke over Nova Southeastern.

Heck (135, -7) shot a 66 in the first round and a 69 in the second round to sit just one stroke off the lead. Jake Nash (139, -3) is in a tie for 11th place after a 66 in the opening round and a 73 in the second round. Enzo Barbaglia (143, -1) carded a pair of sub-par rounds and closes out the first day in a tie for 34th.

Adrian Soriano (144, E) shot par on the day with a 70 in the opening round and a 74 in the second round. Marshall Bath (146, +2) rounded out the Lions lineup with an identical 73 in the first and second round.  

Brendan Porter (147, +3) and Kyle Freudeman (152, +8) are competing as individuals. Porter sits in a tie for 59th and Freudeman is in a tie for 78th place with one round remaining.

As a team the Saint Leo tied for the second most birdies on the day with 36. Individually, Porter was one shy of the most pars across the first 36 holes with 30. Heck and his 10 birdies over the first two rounds was one shy of the lead.

The final round of the Battle of the Shores begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Normandy Shores Golf Club. Saint Leo will be paired with Rollins and Lynn.
