ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Saint Leo University beach volleyball team split its contests on the final day of the 2024 Battle of the Bay tournament hosted by Eckerd College at the Baker Beach Complex. The Lions fell 3-2 in the opening match of the day to Missouri State before posting a 5-0 blanking of Eckerd to close out the day.

Saint Leo moved to 5-3 on the season.

The Lions earned wins at number one and three pairs as both were won in two sets. Saint Leo's numebr one pair of Aliya Fredette-Huffman and Jeanette Henderson won 21-13 and 21-18 to claim the win. Julia Panko and Kayla David won 21-14 and 21-12 as the number three pair. 

Saint Leo earned its fifth win of the season with a 5-0 sweep of the Eckerd Tritons to close out the tournament as the Lions won all five courts in two sets. The number five pair of Erin Johnson and LeeAnn Potter held their opponent to just eight points in the opening set before claiming the victory with a 21-14 win in the second set. Clare Flanagan and Emma Laade won 21-15 and 21-18 as the number four pair for the Lions.
