SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo acrobatics and tumbling team earned a 248.760-226.965 victory at home versus Wingate on Monday night. With the win, the Lions improved to 3-2 on the season.

In the compulsory event, the Green and Gold swept all the heats with a 7.9-6.15 margin in the acro heat followed by a 9.35-8.9 win in the pyramid heat. The Lions won the toss heat by a 9.2-8.5 margin before secured the category with a 5.4-4.25 victory in the tumbling heat. Heading into the acro event, Saint Leo led 31.85-27.80.

During the acro event, the Lions registered scores of 9.8, 9.4, and 8.9 respectively to claim each heat and edge Wingate with a category score of 25.75-21.70 as the Green and Gold grasped a 57.60-49.50 advantage going to the pyramid event.

In the pyramid event, Saint Leo tallied a score of 8.60 in the inversion heat followed by a total of 9.05 in the synchronized heat before registering a 9.5 in the open heat. After the pyramid event, Saint Leo stretched its lead to an 84.75-74.65 margin.

During the toss event, Saint Leo notched a total of 26.05 while the Bulldogs scored 22.20 as the Green and Gold expanded their advantage to 110.80-96.85.

The Lions swept the tumbling event with scores of 7.95 in the duo and trio pass followed by a total of 7.450 in the quad pass. In the aerial pass, the Green and Gold posted a score of 9.25 before hitting a mark of 8.4 in the six-element pass concluded by a total of 8.95 in the open pass. Going into the final event, the Lions controlled a 160.75-142.475 lead.

In the team event, Saint Leo earned a score of 88.01 while Wingate posted an 84.24 as the Lions secured the victory.

Saint Leo returns to the mat on Friday, April 5 as it travels to take on Talladega College at 4 p.m. in Talladega, Alabama.
