SAINT LEO, Fla. The Lions capture their first win of the season and Coach Britteny Johnson's first win as Head Coach. The Lions take down Concordia (Wis.) with a final match score of 243.565-229.835.
 
To start the competition, the Lions tallied a 9.75-9.45 victory in the pyramid heat of the compulsory event followed by a 9.75-9.30 win during the compulsory toss event. Overall, the Green and Gold won the compulsory category by a 35.80-32.80 margin.

The Lions won the three-heat performance of Acro by a score of 25.05 to 22.20 as the Green and Gold gained a 60.85-55.00 advantage before entering the pyramid category. In the pyramid competition, the Lions were able to claim all three heats to extend their edge to 89.35-81.4.

In the toss event, the Lions registered scores of 8.80, 8.65, and 9.00, respectively, for a total of 26.40 in the event. Concordia (Wis.) recorded scores of 7.75, 8.60, and 8.95, respectively, to total 25.30. Heading into the fifth event, tumbling, the Lions led 115.8 to 106.7.

During the tumbling event, Saint Leo won the event posting an event score of 49.825. Concordia (Wis.) posted an event score of 43.925.

The Lions fell short in the team event 77.94-79.21. The Lions were able to capture the victory with a final match score of 243.565-229.835.

The Green and Gold are back on the mats Thursday, March 7 as it hosts Wingate at the Marion Bowman Activities Center, starting at 6 p.m.
