#14 Men’s Golf Captures Saint Leo Invitational Trophy

DADE CITY, Fla. – After a trio of Lions placed in the top-10, the 14th-ranked Saint Leo men's golf team coasted to win the 2024 Saint Leo Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lions won by a 15-stroke advantage as they notched an overall score of 833 (31-under) during the two-day event, collecting the program's second invitational win of the season.

The Green and Gold were led by senior Adrian Soriano, who finished runner-up with a score of 205 (11-under). Soriano rocketed to a fast start as he carded a 63 in the opening round followed by a 69 and 73 in the second and third round. Closely following Soriano was graduate student Jake Nash with a score of 208 (eight-under) to tie for third-place. Nash fired a 73, 69, and 66 during the three rounds, during the final round, he registered an eagle on a 559-yard par-five. Sophomore Enzo Barbaglia came in tied for fifth after tallying a 209 (seven-under) with scores of 72, 70, and 67. Sophomore Alex Heck finished the tournament tied for 13th with an overall score of 211 (five-under). Heck totaled a 72 in round two and a 70 in the third round. Rounding out the scorers for the Lions was graduate student Brendan Porter, who placed tied for 60th as he shot a 72 and 74 in the second and third round, recording a three-day score of 221.

Competing as individuals for Saint Leo were sophomores Carl Gustin and Brett White in addition to junior Kyle Freudeman. Gustin recorded a score of 219 with a 74, 75, and 70 to earn a placed tied for 46th. White was tied for 60th after registering a 221 (75, 72, 74) as Freudeman recorded a score of 230 (79, 76, 75).

Isac Wallin from Keiser University won the individual trophy as he shot a 199 (17-under) on the event.



The Lions return to the links Monday, March 11 as they compete in the First Federal Southeastern Challenge, hosted by Valdosta State at Kinderlou Forest.
