Terlynn "Chanita" Olds '98 (women's basketball) Terlynn "Chanita" Olds was a standout forward on the women's basketball team and later came back to Saint Leo where she was the head coach from 2005-2011. She represented the Green and Gold with integrity and honor on and off the court and represented the core values that Saint Leo expects out of their very best. As a player, Olds stepped up in times of adversity, including when the team was struggling to fill out a roster and many nights had to carry the load and play the entire game as a post player. The physical demand on low post players may be as demanding as any position in any sport. As an athlete, she amazed many as her desire to play was evident in her competitiveness. Olds served as a team captain for Saint Leo. During her playing career, she led the team to its first winning record in program history and also a fourth place finish in the SSC, the highest finish in program history. She averaged 35 minutes per game, 14.7 points per game, 7.6 rebounds per game and shot 55% from the field. Olds ranked fourth in the SSC in scoring and was named All-SSC first team as well as earning conference player of the week honors. She helped lead the team to an SSC seni-final appearance. Following her graduation from Saint Leo College, Olds accomplished an incredible feat, breaking the gender barrier as she became an assistant on the Saint Leo men's basketball team for the 1998-1999 season. Following stops at Spring Hill College, Florida A&M University, Flagler College and Palm Beach State College, Olds returned to Saint Leo in 2005. She took over a Saint Leo women's basketball program that had won three total games in its previous three seasons and laid the foundation for the program you see today that is competing for conference titles and berths in the NCAA tournament. The Saint Leo women's basketball team would not be in the position they are in today if it wasn't for the time and dedication that Coach Olds took in building the program. She has a one-of-a-kind work ethic, and this showed in her play on the court, the steps she took towards the transformation of the women's program has continued to propel her through a successful post coaching career as an administrator and Athletic Director. Olds has demonstrated incredible leadership that has shown as she has participated in numerous NCAA leadership programs and served on campus and conference committees. Prior to her current role as the Vice President for Athletics and Recreation at LaGrange College, she has served as the Executive Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman's Administrator at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the Deputy Athletics Director at Grambling State, and the Senior Associate for Internal and Business Operations at Chicago State University. After serving as the Associate Athletics Director at Spelman College she assumed her first AD role as the Director of Athletics at Chatham University.
