2024 Hall of Fame Nominations Now Open

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is seeking new nominations for the upcoming Class of 2024. 
 
The nomination deadline is September 15, 2023. All nominations should be made online at www.saintleolions.com/hofnomination
 
The induction dinner and ceremonies for the Saint Leo Athletic Hall of Fame's Class of 2021 and 2024 will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, in the Student Community Center on campus. 
 
Nominations are accepted in the categories of Athlete or Coach/Administrator. 
 
HALL OF FAME REQUIREMENTS 

  • An athlete must have earned at least two letters in one sport or one letter in two or more sports. 

  • Attended Saint Leo a minimum of two years. 

  • The athlete will not be considered until five years after the class in which the nominee entered graduates. 

  • A coach or athletic administrator must have lettered at Saint Leo or served at Saint Leo for at least six years. 

  • The nominee must have departed Saint Leo in good standing, and the record of the nominee must be so outstanding that there is no question as to qualifying for the Hall of Fame. 

  • Candidates must be passed by all members of the selection committee.  

  • No more than six nominees may be elected to the Hall of Fame in a single year.  

  • In exceptional cases, the above requirements may be waived by a unanimous vote of the committee. 

  • The nominee must be present at the induction ceremonies in order to be enshrined. If a person is voted in, but unable to attend the ceremonies, that person will be contacted in the years to follow until he or she is able to attend. 

Basic Selection Criteria 

  • Achievement in athletic competition as demonstrated by post-season honors, team captaincy, record-setting performances, and/or being the outstanding performer on a team(s).  

  • Outstanding contributions to society as evidenced by leadership in community, professional, and/or church affairs. 

Any person may nominate an individual for consideration by the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee. Once a person is nominated, he or she will be considered for four hall of fame classes (8 years), and then would require a new nomination for the following class. If you have nominated someone in recent years there is no need to re-nominate them if it has been eight years or less.
