WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - The Saint Leo Men's Golf team concluded play at the National Preview Tuesday and finished in second place of the nine-team field at the Orange County Golf Course. The Green and Gold carded a 278 over the final 18 for a 54-hole score of 856 (-10).
Nicklas Illi paced the team for the tournament with a 213 (-3) on the par-72, 7,287-yard course after a final round 68 (-4). Illi finished play in the field with an impressive thirteen birdies total over the 54-holes while he had 34 pars over the course of the tournament.
Jake Nash and Mathieu Lafontaine joined
Illi in the top-20, just two strokes shy at 215 (-1). Both golfers ended the tournament T8th, while Heck finished in T15.
Carl Gustin and Enzo Barbaglia turned in a top-40 tournament with T28th and T36th place finishes, respectively.
Florida Southern fired off a twelve-under 276 over the final 18 to jump into first and win by 2 strokes with a tournament score of 852 (-12).
