Marta Vicens Miquel, Lavinia Lancellotti, and Claudia Borbon Roca Named ITA All-Americans

May 25, 2023

SAINT LEO, FL – Saint Leo Women's Tennis' Marta Vicens Miquel, Lavinia Lancellotti, and Claudia Borbon Roca all named ITA All-Americans.

Marta Vicens Miquel was named as an All-American for singles and doubles status. This is her third time as a singles All-American but her first All-American status in doubles.

Vicens Miquel capped the season off as the #8 singles competitor in the country with a 21-8 record. As part of the dynamic pairing of herself and Lavinia Lancellotti, they finished with a 22-6 record and as the #4 pairing in the country.

Her stellar play is one that always kicked things off in a positive manner for the Lions and helped them achieve so much success throughout the season.

"Marta deserves all the recognition she can get.  I am extremely proud of her and to have her last year finish as an All-American in both singles and doubles is icing on the cake.  Marta works so hard and has always been a team player.  She is truly a great ambassador for college tennis and has been an inspiration to both her teammates and to her coaches.  Well done Marta and like we always said, how work does pay off," said Head Coach Chad Berryhill.

Lavinia Lancellotti is an All-American for the first time in her career after having a terrific season where she along with Vicens Miquel were one of the best pairs in the country.

As said before, they finished with a 22-6 record that led them to finishing the season with a #4 ITA doubles ranking.

Lancellotti's strong effort was always relied upon whenever the Lions were going for the very important doubles' point.

"Lavi had a tremendous year partnering with Marta.  They both played together last year as well at #2 and had a great season.  I think they were a little hesitant playing # 1 this year, but they really did a great job and were a super tough team to beat. Finishing #4 in the nation is amazing and I am super proud of Lavi for her efforts this season," said coach Berryhill.

Claudia Borbon Roca had a terrific season where she finished 16-11 in singles competition and has earned her second All-American status for singles play.

Due to her hard work on the court, Roca finished the season with a #20 ITA singles ranking.

She was a player the Lions consistently relied upon to help secure the singles point in so many critical matches in conference and national play.

"Very happy for Claudia for earning back-to-back All-American status!  She had a great Fall season and then struggled this Spring at times.  However, I am proud how she stuck with it and started playing her best tennis at the end of the season.  Every player goes through a roller coaster season and Claudia really worked hard to get through it.  She also won a big match to clinch our team going into the finals of the ITA Indoors.  I know Claudia will be back even stronger next year, said coach Berryhill.
