TAVARES, Fla. – The Saint Leo beach volleyball team finished the AVCA Championship claiming the silver bracket. The Lions swept the silver bracket this afternoon defeating Texas A&M Kingsville, 3-1 and defeating Spring Hill, 3-2.

The Lions opened up the silver bracket defeating Texas A&M Kingsville in four matches. The Lions got off to a quick start when their second pairing of Emma Miller and Ignacia Cortinez and third pairing of Kayla David and Julia Panko each won their matches in straight sets. Erin Johnson and Amanda Doherty closed out the match with a three-set victory, 21-16, 16-21, and 15-11.

In the championship match for the silver bracket the Lions defeated Spring Hill in five matches. The pairing of Emma Miller and Ignacia Cortinez won the first match for the Lions, 21-17 and 21-13 over Mikayla Boyer and Jaylyne Bell. Saint Leo would win the next two matches when Kayla David and Julia Panko defeated Kayla Shappell and Linnea Bell, 17-21,21-19,15-5. Elizabeth Sandoval and LeeAnn Potter closed out the match getting the best of Brooke Borgmeyer and Elizabeth Hardouin, 23-16 and 23-21.
