LAKELAND, Fla. – The Saint Leo beach traveled to Lakeland, Florida Wednesday morning to compete in a tri-match against Florida Southern College and Eckerd College. The Lions were able to sweep both opponents, winning in five straight sets.

The Green & Gold began the morning with a sweep over Florida Southern, 5-0. The pairing of Daria Kowalik and Erin Johnson had the biggest margin of victory for the Lions, defeating Chloe Maxwell and Madeline Sanders, 21-9 and 21-7. Kayla David and Julia Panko were the only pairing that saw three sets in their match as they battled to win against Sarah Crocker and Ashli Mckenny, 21-19, 21-15, and 15-11.

Saint Leo was victorious against the Tritons to wrap up play in Lakeland Florida. Aliya Fredette-Huffman and Jeanette Henderson kicked off the 12 pm match with a three set victory over Olivia D'Agostino and Emma Shaddix, 21-16 and 21-10. Niamh Davies and Amanda Doherty defeated Piper Cowman and Emma Hufford, 21-15 and 21-18.
The Lions will return to action at the Eckerd College Battle on the Bay. The Green and Gold will open up the weekend tournament on Friday against the University of Tampa and Eckerd College.
