LAKELAND, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's soccer team settled for a 0-0 draw against SSC rival Florida Southern on the road Wednesday evening. The Lions battled tough and held the Mocs to scoreless but couldn't find the back of the net.
The Lions asserted themselves defensively almost immediately off kickoff when Florida Southern was not able to find any luck against the Green & Gold wall.
The Lions tested the Mocs keeper with eight shots, paced by
Bella Arato and
Alex Collighan with two dangerous shots a piece. Offensive efforts were helped by four other Lions, who also tallied one shot each on the night.
Goalkeeper
Hannah Goetzer was solid in the goal registering six saves on the night.
The Lions has much to look forward to after a stellar defensive performance be the back line. The Mocs were able to get off 26 shots on the night but couldn't convert any of them to goals.
The Lions return to the Saint Leo Soccer Field this Saturday Oct. 7, hosting SSC foe Barry University. They look to bounce back and get a big home victory. Kickoff is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
