SAINT LEO, Fla – The Saint Leo Women's Soccer team strike late to draw with Eckerd 1-1.
In the first half, the Lions went through a barrage of attacks against their defensive line but were able to keep their shape for the most part as they kept the Tritons to no goals in the first half.
The Tritons did almost find the back of the net late in the half before Goalkeeper
Amit Beilin made a massive diving effort towards her right post to keep her clean sheet hopes alive.
The Lions were out shot 11-4 in the first half and went into halftime with a 0-0 scoreline.
In the second half, the Tritons had an early attempt that seemed to be curling into the box but hooked just wide of the post as Beilin had to make a last-ditch attempt to cover her back post.
In the 60th minute, the Lions could hold no longer as Triton's #29 Kendall Drummond found the near post top corner to give Eckerd the 1-0 advantage.
The Lions responded in the 84th minute thanks to an across goal attempt from
Alex Collighan that found the back of the net to tie things up late at 1-1.
Neither team could find an even later winning attempt as the game closed out as a 1-1 draw.
The Lions are next in action on October 21st as they travel to Daytona Beach to face off versus the Embry-Riddle Eagles in a Sunshine State Conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm.
