BRADENTON, Fla. – The No. 3 Saint Leo women's tennis team captured a third place finish winning the Sunshine State Conference Championship Tournament Consolation match Sunday morning. The Lions bested the No. 5 Lynn Fighting Knights 4-3 in a singles rally comeback effort. The big postseason win improved the Green and Gold's overall record to 20-3 as they await the NCAA Regional Selection Announcement.
The Fighting Knights clinched the doubles point but the Lions came ready to battle.
Nina Furmaniak led the charge notching the first win in the second singles flight; 6-2, 6-2. Lynn reclaimed the lead at 2-1 taking the third flight. The Green and Gold rallied as
Kamilya Shailina won the sixth flight,
Marta Vicens Miquel took the first, and
Alina Fedulova clinched the match in the fifth spot.
