TAVARES, Fla. – The Saint Leo beach volleyball team split day two of the 2022 AVCA DII Small College Championship on Friday at the Hickory Point Beach Sand Volleyball Complex. Saint Leo recorded a 4-1 over Florida Southern in the first match of the day but fell to Tampa in as tight 3-2 decision in the nightcap.
 
The Lions' win over Moccasins marked the Green and Gold's third time defeating the SSC foes from Lakeland, Fla. this season. Previously, Saint Leo had beaten Florida Southern, 3-2, in both regular-season matches. Nina Vattovaz and Jeanette Henderson as at the top pair and Ally-Reese Williams with third pairing partner, Emma Miller, each notched their third respective victories over Florida Southern this season.
 
Saint Leo edged Tampa in the second and fifth pairings. The teams last met on March 5, 2022 in St. Petersburg, where the Lions fell 4-1. This time, Aliya Fredette-Huffman and LeeAnn Potter were able to secure the second pair while Elizabeth Sandoval and Amanda Doherty took the fifth pairing decision.
