SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo beach volleyball team split the day against College of Charleston (6-4) and Florida Southern College (4-2) on Tuesday in a tri-match during the Saint Leo home opener at the Saint Leo Beach Courts. Saint Leo went 1-4 against College of Charleston seeing improvement from their last time seeing the Cougars. After a hard fought match against the cougars the Lions were able to defeat the Florida Southern Moccasins 3-2. The day moved the Lions' overall record to 7-7 on the season.

Elizabeth Sandoval and Amanda Doherty were able to pull out an exciting three set victory against College of Charleston in the five pairing with scores of 22-20, 19-21, 15-9. Sandoval a junior from Uruapan, Mexico was able to help her team pull ahead in the third set with three straight aces forcing College of Charleston to call a time out. Their efforts to slow Sandoval and Doherty were proven unsuccessful being defeated 15-9.
