Out of Time: Lions’ Season Ends at #11 Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The sixth-seeded Saint Leo University Women's soccer team gave third-seeded #11 Embry-Riddle a scare on Halloween night, but the Lions were unable to overcome a 3-1 deficit in the second half that allowed the Eagles to survive with a 3-2 win at ERAU Soccer Stadium.

Saint Leo (8-6-2, 4-5-1 SSC) produced a .667 team Shots on Goal percentage as a whole, with Senior Forward Alex Collighan leading the Lions with four shots and landing two on net.  Graduate Goalkeeper Maitane Bravo recorded four saves on the night.

Senior Midfielder Nina Mueller recorded a score and an assist while Senior Defender Jill Sutherland recorded her first goal in the Green & Gold late in the second half.

While the Eagles (11-0-5, 5-0-5 SSC) move on to the semifinals to face #24 Nova Southeastern, Saint Leo finishes the season with four times the amount of wins from its previous season.  The Lions will return in 2023 looking to get back to the Sunshine State Conference Championships and ultimately compete for a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
