SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's swimming team tallied two wins Friday inside the Marion Bowman Aquatics Center against Rollins. The Lions captured a 71-70, 66-64 pair of victories over the Tars in the Sunshine State Conference dual meet. Before the first event of the unusual cloudy and chilly afternoon, Saint Leo honored its senior class:
Erika Baumgardner,
Paulina Majszutowicz,
Mariana Navarrete,
Ashly Smith, and
Cassidi TenEyck.
Isabella Sering won the women's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.29 to hand Saint Leo nine points up front. Vittoria Feniello Bonsanti cruised to a first-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle finishing in 17:23.74, nearly a minute before the rest of the competition.
Anett Daka swimming backstroke (59.03) and
Paulina Majszutowicz (1:06.55) swimming the breaststroke each won their respective 100-yard races. Daka also teamed up with Sering,
Emma Bjoernholdt, and
Elze Bielskute to win the 400-yard medley relay with a final time of 3:55.81.
During the second meet against Rollins of the day, Sering took the 100-yard freestyle race (53.96) while Daka won the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.18) and Majszutowicz won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.29). The dynamic team of Daka, Bielskute, Pasteur, and Sering recorded 11 points taking the 400 -yard freestyle relay, posing a time of 3:38.17.
The Lions will head to the 2022 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships for a five-day meet starting on Wednesday, Feb 16. The conference championship will be held inside The Long Center in Clearwater, Fla.
