SAINT LEO, Fla. – The third-seeded Saint Leo women's tennis team fell 4-0 at second-seeded Nova Southeastern in the 2021 Sunshine State Conference Championship Tournament on Wednesday in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
The Sharks clinched the doubles team point taking the first and third flights, leaving the second flight unfinished. Nova Southeastern quickly tallied two more points taking the sixth and first singles flights.
Weather delayed the match by over an hour before the match could be decided. While the teams were waiting, the tournament's 2 p.m. semifinal match was decided. First-seed Barry defeated fourth-seed Lynn, 4-0, in Miami Shores, Fla.
Nova Southeastern clinched the match coming out of the delay earning the third flight final point.

Saint Leo University Athletics is keeping our student-athletes healthy and safe by following a number of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes having student-athletes tested or screened on a regular basis, traveling in smaller groups, holding competitions without fans in attendance, avoiding overnight trips, and wearing masks when not competing. These safety standards meet those set by the NCAA Division II and the Sunshine State Conference President's Council. At Saint Leo University, the COVID-19 Incident Command Team also reviews the teams' safety protocol and monitors adherence on a regular basis.
